As the year draws to an end, many of us will reflect on the accumulation of our possessions and the need to declutter. Instead of discarding unwanted items, the Sustainable Christmas Market offers a meaningful alternative.

Organized by Peace of Art, this annual event invites the community to donate gently used or new items to be sold, with 100% of proceeds supporting the Young Hearts programme. This initiative provides underprivileged children with academic support and mentorship, helping them build a brighter future.

The event emphasizes the importance of sustainable living by giving pre-loved items a second life. The market is calling for donations of children's books, toys, designer fashion, and tech devices—ensuring each item is thoroughly assessed for quality. Donated toys must be in good working order, while tech devices such as laptops and phones are accepted in any condition. This effort reduces waste and encourages mindful consumption by turning unused possessions into valuable resources for others.
In keeping with its sustainability goals, unsold items will be transferred to Red Cross SHOP+, a charity store that promotes upcycling and reducing waste. Every item sold continues to contribute to the Singapore Red Cross' humanitarian efforts, further extending the life cycle of donated goods and minimizing environmental impact.
By supporting the Sustainable Christmas Market, whether by donating or shopping, you are taking part in a circular economy that benefits both the environment and the community. It's a festive way to celebrate sustainability while giving back to those in need.
