Historical Inspiration: The theme "Art of Play" draws from the historical significance of BBB, home to some of Singapore's earliest schools. The festival's installations and artworks will reflect this heritage, exploring childhood and nostalgia through engaging participative experiences.
Wonder World – The Machine of Nostalgia: Local artist Sam Lo, also known as "SKL0," will present an installation, "Wonder World: The Machine of Nostalgia" inspired by Singapore's 1950s amusement parks. This nostalgic wonderland will feature rides, game stalls, and performances, blending heritage with modernity. Early bird tickets for this attraction are available from 17 July to 17 August, priced at $20.
Night Lights Installations: Ten site-specific luminous installations will transform the precinct, inspired by the concept of play. Highlights include "The Happiest Days of Our Lives" by Rizman Putra at Stamford Arts Centre, evoking childhood nostalgia with vintage illustrations, and "Delulu High" by Pop Glitterfreak Collective at Bugis Street Art Lane, reimagining school memories in a vibrant and reflective haven.
Interactive Artworks: Regional and local artists will contribute to the festival's interactive installations. Thai artist KIMBAB:) will present "Fortune Beads" at Funan Mall, an immersive installation inspired by the abacus.
