Mui Kee’s story began in 1979, when founder Mak Mui started a humble stall in Mong Kok, Hong Kong. What began as a small operation quickly grew into a culinary staple, beloved for its traditional techniques and authentic flavors.
Today, the business is run by Mak Mui’s grandson, Ah Tung, who continues to uphold the same family recipes passed down through three generations. Using time-tested methods, Mui Kee creates congee with a smooth and silky texture that remains true to its Cantonese roots. Each bowl offers a taste of heritage, ensuring that Mui Kee’s legacy continues with every bite.

Mui Kee's interior design also speaks to its deep-rooted heritage. The dining space is a seamless blend of modern simplicity and traditional Cantonese elements. One of the standout features is the wall clad in mahjong tiles, which are symbolic of Cantonese culture. These tiles bring a nostalgic touch to the restaurant, reminding diners of the congee's Cantonese origins.

In another area, a textured wall with sculpted fish motifs adds a playful yet refined aesthetic, offering a contemporary contrast to the otherwise heritage-driven décor. The light wood furniture and minimalist design create a welcoming atmosphere, while the warm lighting enhances the cozy, family-friendly vibe of the restaurant.
