A recent case from China revealed how a metal hair claw pierced a woman’s head following a traffic collision. CT scans showed that the broken teeth of the clip lodged itself just millimeters from vital nerves and blood vessels in her brain. Medical intervention was required to carefully extract the metal fragments without damaging critical areas. However, this is not the only case to have happened and involved a hair claw clip.

Authorities and safety advocates, including the Indian Fire Service, have since raised concerns about the risks of wearing metal claw clips while traveling in a vehicle. Despite modern safety features such as airbags and seatbelts, these accessories can become potentially hazardous objects that cause severe head injuries upon impact.

Those who frequently wear claw clips should be mindful of these risks and consider switching to safer hair accessories (such as scrunchies and hair ties), especially while taking transportation. While they may seem harmless, their potential for serious injury makes awareness and caution essential.
