Each QR gift card, serving as a replacement for traditional red packets, can only be utilized once and can be canceled via the PayLah! app if lost after loading money onto it. These physical gift cards, provided by DBS, enable users to load cash by scanning a QR code. Additionally, non-DBS customers can receive these QR gifts after registering for PayNow.
DBS advises customers to obtain these gift cards from any DBS or POSB branch and to refrain from scanning cards that appear tampered with or originate from unfamiliar sources.
Individuals gifting QR cards this Chinese New Year season can conveniently load funds onto the card through the PayLah! app. Recipients can redeem the cash either by scanning the QR code using the app or through their PayNow-linked account via Singpass through the utilizing of the phone camera app.

In alignment with the growing trend of digital gifting, DBS is enhancing its efforts to recycle physical red packets. This year, over 40 recycling bins have been strategically placed at all DBS or POSB full-service branches and selected self-service branches.
These bins are accessible year-round and accept packets received during various occasions such as Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Deepavali, and weddings. The collected packets are then forwarded to Tay Paper Recycling for recycling or repurposing into paper products.
