E. coli is a type of bacteria commonly found in the intestines of humans and animals. While most strains are harmless, some can cause severe foodborne illness. Contaminated food can lead to symptoms like stomach cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting, and in rare cases, complications such as kidney failure. Contamination often occurs during food production, especially when hygiene protocols are not properly followed.

Consumers are advised not to consume the affected mooncakes. Those who have eaten the product and are concerned about their health should seek medical advice.

The recall is ongoing. However, there has been no official announcement by Baker’s Cottage regarding the recall process or how consumers can obtain refunds for the product.
